About Toledo MetroParks

Toledo MetroParks is a system of over a dozen parks and natural areas managed by the Toledo Metropolitan Park District in northwest Ohio. Spanning a diverse geography that includes wooded forests, wetlands, riverfront, and open fields, the park district preserves important habitats for local flora and fauna. The parks trace their origins to the 1920s and continue to emphasize conservation alongside recreation. Popular sites such as Wildwood Preserve Metropark showcase historic features, including an early 20th-century estate, while Oak Openings Preserve Metropark protects one of the largest remaining oak savanna ecosystems in Ohio. Visitors enjoy miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and cross-country skiing, as well as designated fishing areas and paddle launches on several lakes and rivers. The parks also host educational programs, seasonal events, and community volunteer opportunities. Notable landmarks include historic homes, diverse natural habitats, and scenic river views. The combination of accessible trails, well-maintained facilities, and natural beauty appeals to residents and visitors seeking both active recreation and peaceful nature experiences. With ongoing habitat restoration projects and natural resource management, Toledo MetroParks plays a key role in regional biodiversity conservation.
